Artist Statement

I have been creating simple pen and ink drawings since 1984. I create these tiny meditations or mandalas in a quiet mental space, however the places in which I create them tend to be cafes, parks, town squares, or other venues open to the public.

Public places enable me to absorb diverse sound-scapes which influence the progress of each work. The sounds allow me to freely explore balance and the dialogue between positive and negative space.

Each piece is drawn free-hand with the use of a Rapidograph fine point pen and black India ink.

Some of my pen and ink drawings have been shown in galleries in New York and Boston with private collections in Europe, San Francisco, and western Massachusetts. One abstract piece was selected for the Small Works exhibit at Washington Square East Galleries in 2001.
