Kate Fenker - open studio

July 30 - September 7, 2003

Artist's Statement:

My artworks embody a fluid, creative state of being that is simultaneously expressive and receptive. I find inspiration in the creations of insects and animals: cocoons, webs, nests; and ways in which these forms are reflected in energy fields and networks. Patterning my creative process after natural processes converges with a more conscious and methodical means to expression. As color, form, gesture and negative space, these disparate forces relate in harmony and tension. The resulting images and objects record periods of growth and change, and moments of dynamic, temporary balance. They are portals for the imagination.
